Jesse J. Holland is the Race, Ethnicity & Demographics writer for The Associated Press in Washington, D.C. A former Supreme Court, White House and Congressional reporter, Jesse was named one of TheRoot.com 100 Most Influential African Americans in 2011 and is the youngest person on the University of Mississippi's Top 50 Journalism Graduates. Jesse is also the social media coordinator for the AP’s Washington bureau, where he helps train political journalists and editors in best social media practices. He spent more than five years as the main writer for the @AP_Courtside Twitter feedand created and manages the AP’s @AP_Politics Twitter feed and the AP Politics Facebook page. He has been with the AP since 1994, starting in the Columbia, S.C. and Albany, N.Y. bureaus before coming to Washington, D.C. in 2000. He is in the midst of writing his second book about Washington, D.C. history.
