(@angiechuang) Angie Chuang is an associate professor of Journalism at American University School of Communication in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the AU faculty in 2007, she was a newspaper journalist for 13 years, on staff at The Oregonian, The Hartford Courant and the Los Angeles Times. Her literary nonfiction book, The Four Words for Home, which spun off a 2004 reporting trip to Afghanistan, was published March 2014 by Aquarius Press / Willow Books as the 2013 Willow Books Literature Awards Grand Prize in Prose winner. Her academic research focuses on representations of race and American identity in news media and has been published in Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Communication, Culture and Critique, and other journals.
