I'm a recovering ink-stained wretch who reported for The Seattle Times and learned to shoot and edit video as the "hybrid reporter" for The Dallas Morning News' Metro Desk. I now teach digital journalism, media entrepreneurship, investigative reporting and technology reporting at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where I am faculty adviser to smudailycampus.com. I also am working on a book about audience engagement, which is the central focus of my academic research and creative work.
