Want to know more about the ages, nationalities, economic situation and other demographics of the people in your area? Census data often has the answer, but it's been a hassle to use. This workshop will provide an introduction to Census Reporter, a new, free and powerful tool made by journalists to help journalists use census data in their stories. Through case-studies from participants’ beats, individual research tasks and exercises in generating visual design ideas from downloaded data, participants will learn some key strategies for getting the most out of this tool while gaining a deeper understanding of the data in the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey.
